Working in teams adds a non-constant overhead to working in any project. Yet, for anything non-trivial, teams are necessary. As per my exposition last week, I was writing about how working as a team could be more effective if I did certain things differently. This week, we're honoured to have Jim Gan (we -- Colin included -- calls him Uncle Jim, with good reason...) share with us his experiences in CS3216 last year, as he went about his final project.

Recess Week: Post Mortem

So Assignment 3 was submitted 2 days ago. I honestly do not believe it was ready for prime time, but deadlines are deadlines. As a team, we weren't as productive as we should have been. This led to a substandard product (in my opinion, anyway) and would probably cost us.

Weeks 5 and 6: Taking a breather

Weeks 5 and 6 were hell. It's not true at all that Week 5 (last week) being e-Learning week made things easier. It didn't. It seemed to be the perfect reason for lecturers to give all the extra assignments (I had at least 1 from every module) so much so the assignments took up my entire week and I couldn't advance my study. Very distressing.

Week 2, Enter Crowdbuy

So the joke was on us when StartSSL refused to issue us a certificate to use with HTTPS. They cited "commercial intent." Not that it's completely false, but, we do just want to bootstrap the whole thing so we can test it together with Facebook over Secure HTTP.

or, how I hate PHP CMSes. I'll skip the introductions and head straight down to business. Some of you might know, I've been working with PHP for almost a decade now, and I've seen good code, bad code, and... non-code. The last few months I've been working on CVWO, and for that we've been using Drupal 7. Drupal's a mess: note to self -- don't ever use it again.
